Market launch DIN rail socket SRD-SIS3 and relay module SMF4

With the new SRD-SIS3 DIN-rail socket for compact 2-pole and 3-pole relays of the SIS series, ELESTA GmbH enables the simple integration of relays with forcibly guided contacts in control cabinet applications of functional safety. The advantage is that now 3 contacts with forced guidance can be integrated into the safety circuit. The relay socket SRD-SIS3 is used with the relay version L38 of the SIS2 and SIS3 series. The longer connection pins of 3.8 mm ensure reliable contacting in the socket.

The SMF 4 relay module offers a simple solution that eliminates the weaknesses of relays with sockets in functional safety applications. In its robust housing, it can be conveniently snapped onto the DIN rail in the control cabinet. With 2 NO / 2 NC or 3 NO / 1 NC, and with its notched crown contacts for switching currents from 3 mA to 8 A, it is ideally suited for both monitoring circuits and load circuits. Coil voltages of 12 VDC and 24 VDC are available as standard. Individual coil voltages can also be implemented at short notice.
In addition to the space saving due to the small width, the better protection of the relay compared to a simple relay socket is worth mentioning. It is protected against manipulation, is much more robust against shock, vibration and environmental influences such as temperature changes and is easy to install due to plug-in terminals with screw and push-in technology. Product are coming soon in May-June 2020 and data sheets/samples will be available then.

RoHS – The farewell to cadmium

Cadmium has been banned since 1988, and in the first RoHS regulation in 2003 it was also explicitly banned in the field of electrical engineering. Now it is forbidden since 29.02.2020 as Contact material for relays in electrical and electronic equipment of the groups:
1. large household appliances
2. small household appliances
3. IT and telecommunications equipment
4. consumer electronics appliances
5. lighting fixtures
6. electrical and electronic tools
7. toys and sports and leisure equipment
10. automatic dispensers

For_ category 8, medical in vitro diagnostic medical devices_, the derogation applies until 2023-07-21.

For the categories 9, monitoring and control instruments, including monitoring and control instruments in industry and 11, other electrical and electronic equipment not belonging to any of the above categories, the exemption will continue to apply until 2024-07-21.

ELESTA has NO Cd (Cadmium) contacts. If you have products of other manufacturers with Cd Contact material in stock, a spare part sale is still possible.
